Brendan O'Hara and the Humble Ones named Best Rock Band of 2006
Wow. What a great surprise this morning. The phone calls started pretty early this morning, with friends congratulatiing us on being named, "Best Rock Band of 2006" by City Link Magazine. We feel honored. Thank you, City Link. The exposure that gives us is immeasureable and comes at a great time as we're readying two new releases, Brendan's solo record "Soapbox" and the full-band release, "Five Days" (or some other title, maybe.) Anyway, know that we're blown away by the honor and are very proud to be named as the best amongst some of our other local favorites and friends like Raffa and Rainer, TSDW, Brimestone, Suenelo, Tourche, and Guajiro. (sorry Oscar, we don't know ya, but look forward to meeting up sometime.)
So, if you're new to us and trying to check it all out, look around the rest of the website and then head over to our mySpace pages and become our friend.

Welcome back to thehumbleones.com. Glad to have your ears and eyes for a few minutes. We appreciate your attention.
There's a lot going on in our little world right now. Plans are being implemented for world domination and we have high hopes for said plans' success. The record we recorded in NYC this past summer is starting to sound like a record. There are currently 14 songs, fully mixed, being evaluated for their public worthiness. (we'd never give you anything less). and we're excited about not only the tunes but a very secret, very special surprise for its release. Don't ask us, because we wouldn't ruin it, but believe that if you love Perceptive Inception, this record will exceed all your expectations.
Two very big live shows this weekend, both on Saturday night. Early, at 8pm, we're out in support of "A Wakeup Call". If you don't know Aaron, believe that there is a man walking this earth with the purpose of helping others. We've done benefits in the past, for all worthy causes, but this one feels special, as this man lives his life as a friend to humanity.
Read this New Times Cover Story on Aaron Jackson and his efforts.
Then, at 11pm, we're in for 3 sets with special guests, Stokeswood, at our new favorite venue, The Transit Lounge. Over 300 bopping heads came out last time. We're expecting you at both shows. Pay the cover at China White, know the money goes to charity, and get two shows from BO and THO in one great night.
There is a power in positivity. Embrace the positive, be patient for what you cannot control.
Our friend and uber-supporter of the humble ones, broward new times writer, jonathan zwickel is leaving South Florida for San Francisco. He will be missed. all the best, jz.
The week of June 5th we'll be back in NYC for a series of shows. Details are coming soon, but here's a nugget...we'll be laying down tracks with Adam Reiter for the next Brendan O'Hara and the Humble Ones record.
The week of June 13th we'll playing a series of shows with Atlanta's Stokeswood. See our Upcoming shows list to your right for details.
When you say someting this nice, you're down. Thanks for the love, Gina.
"So I bought the CD from CD baby. Received it promptly. Listen to it daily. Your voice has a hopeful melancoly filled with wisdom. Your lyrics speak the way I wish more men would. I hear your music and I feel alive. I find myself shimmying at my desk, tapping my toe, and singing along with my eyes closed. The instruments fill the space gradually and fill it well.......... the piano, the horns, the drums, the bass.........its lovely. Thank you for your collective humilty. Can't wait for the next CD, I hear you all are amazing live, any chance you'll get out to Texas?"
- a real good chance, Gina.
Take a sip. There, that was good wasn't it? New Times Beerfest was a resounding success playing in front of a number higher than any Humble One has ever counted. So sweet, the success is starting to taste good. Thanks to Jess and Inga for making it happen. A solid shout to Dave and Chris for making the sound sweet and the process smooth. We'd do it again.
What can we say? You have you read the article for yourself. Enjoy.
